For the past six years, I’ve been practicing yoga on and off. And while my consistence kinda sucks, I really enjoy yoga and the benefits it offers.
According to Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California, there are eight key physical benefits to practicing yoga:
▪ Increased flexibility,
▪ Increased muscle strength and tone,
▪ Improved respiration, energy and vitality,
▪ The maintenance of a balanced metabolism,
▪ Weight reduction,
▪ Cardio and circulatory health,
▪ Improved athletic performance, and
▪ Protection from injury.
In addition to these physical benefits, yoga offers emotional and spiritual benefits. The relaxation practices can be used to release tension and stress, and when combined with meditation practices, yoga definitely becomes a transformative spiritual practice. However, naked yoga goes a step further.
In my personal experience, being comfortable with nudity and your body is a key step in learning to love and accept yourself completely, as you are…flaws and all. I’ve learned to be 100% comfortable and confident in my body, not because it’s perfect (y’all, know I want new boobs), but because it’s flawed art…and art, even when flawed, is pure beauty. A key factor in helping me achieve this level of acceptance is practicing naked yoga.
Naked yoga is just like regular yoga except you do it naked…and in front of a mirror. You watch your body as it twists, turns and moves…every muscle, roll, stretch mark and clump of cellulite. And in my experience, you learn to appreciate every inch of your body and the amazing things it is capable of doing. And not only do you walk away with the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of regular yoga, but you gain a self-confidence that’s sure to have amazing effects on one’s sex life.
So I’m inviting you all do this 30-Day Naked Yoga Challenge with me.
